White Cocoon - Matt Doust

I saw this painting of Gemma Ward by Matt Doust in a Healsville art gallery showcasing the finalists for the Archibald Prize 2011.

The artist described Gemma’s features as distorted and said that they shouldn’t work together so well, but, somehow they do. I think this why I love Gemma’s look - it’s so individual but it works.
